VID POLONČIČ
was introduced to pottery in 2011 when researching various aspects of clay and ceramic production processes under the mentorship of academic sculptor and potter Eva Peterson Lenassi. He is currently enhancing his knowledge and sharpening his skills under the guidance of Štefan Zelko from Prekmurje, one of the few contemporary traditional potters in Slovenia whose practices are UNESCO protected as intangible cultural heritage. Today, Vid leads his pottery workshops and creates in Ljubljana, various locations in Slovenia and abroad.
POTTERY PRODUCTS
I’m still learning. The greatest challenge is to find one’s own signature expression. My path winds somewhere between tradition, intuition and innovation: I want to replace the craft’s worn image by draping it with novel artistic possibilities.
POTTERY CLASSES
Pottery vacations, masterclasses and regular courses.
POTTERY WHEELS
The pottery wheels are light, portable and of fascinating design. Each wheel is a unique product that, in addition to its design, also contains traditional knowledge and manual skills related to the craft. I want my pottery wheels to be artistic products of aesthetic beauty.
IMPRESSIONS
Vid was the first to introduce me to working with clay. As a teacher, he is very patient and honest. What distinguishes Vid’s pottery skills is that essential ingredient that this world often lacks: true knowledge and dedication.
Polona Javornik
artist
Vid and I made a lamp in a mixed technique: a ceramic pedestal and origami lampshade. Vid is resourceful, reliable, strives for aesthetics, while at the same time searches for effective solutions. It was truly a very enjoyable collaboration!
Nataša Brunec
origamist
Vid is a true potter’s wheel master. It only took me a single morning to gain all the knowledge I needed to make a traditional cake pan (potičnica) for baking potica cakes. Thanks!
Katarina Spurk
lončarka
Whether it’s working with clay, music, food, entertainment or anything else, Vid is an artist. A joyous, loving and talented lad. It’s never boring in his company.
Marjeta Lužnik
potter, gardener, dog lover
Since I met Vid as a pottery student at SEM (Slovene Ethnographic Museum), I’ve always been fascinated by his composure and the love he cultivates for creating with clay. I am extremely happy with all the knowledge he has given me. He also plays the guitar, which makes creating even more enjoyable. I would recommend him to anyone.
